A new space for contemporary luxury in the heart of Oslo
In the center of Oslo, just a few steps from the city’s main shopping streets, a new retail space has been created that offers a contemporary interpretation of the dialogue between historic architecture and modern design. The project is housed in a late 19th-century building, enhancing its original structure and transforming it into an environment dedicated to experience, materials, and quality of detail.
The new store spreads over, divided into distinct but coherent spaces, designed to accompany visitors on a fluid and immersive journey. In this context, Marconi oversaw the creation of the furnishings, helping to define a space in which functionality and aesthetics interact harmoniously.
Architecture and interiors: a balance between rigor and warmth
The interiors are characterized by a measured and recognizable color palette, in which delicate green tones interact with bright surfaces and refined materials. The walls take on a true architectural role, becoming display backdrops that enhance the products without overwhelming them.
The floor, with its refined contrasting geometry, helps to define the rhythm of the spaces and accompanies the movement between the different areas of the store. Custom-made furniture, suspended display cases, and glass display shelves create a balance between visual lightness and structural solidity, expressing an attention to detail that finds concrete application in the quality of Marconi’s furnishings.
Particular attention is paid to the upholstered seating, which introduces a more intimate and comfortable dimension, transforming the commercial space into a place to be experienced, not just passed through.
Light and transparency as design elements
Lighting plays a central role in the project. A combination of diffused ceiling lighting and spot lighting highlights the products and surfaces, creating an elegant but never cold atmosphere.
The large windows facing the street allow for constant dialogue between inside and outside, letting in natural light and offering urban views that strengthen the connection with the city context.
In the evening, the store becomes a real bright spot in the urban fabric, enhancing the historic facade of the building and attracting the gaze of passersby.
A project that interprets retail as an experience
This project is an example of how contemporary retail can go beyond its simple display function, becoming a spatial narrative, attention to detail, and relationship with the place. It is a project in which architecture, furnishings, and lighting work together to create a coherent, elegant, and recognizable experience, in line with the new demands of high-end commerce in European urban contexts.
